Linda Tucker - Global White Lion Protection Trust
Linda Tucker has worked with enormous courage and fortitude against all odds to restore the White Lions and Lionesses to their ancestral homelands and reveal them as the luminaries they truly are. Her unusual meeting with the White Lions and Lionesses and her subsequent dedication to their rewilding and protection is documented in her two books: The Mystery of the White Lions (2001), and Saving the White Lions (2013).
"The symbol of the lion, throughout history, throughout cultures, is one pure, radiant symbol and that is leadership, kingship"
In 2002, Linda founded the Global White Lion Protection Trust (WLT), a community-based conservation organization whose objective is the protection of the White Lions and Lionesses, and the preservation of the magnificent cultures of the indigenous Tsonga and Sepedi communities, which celebrate these legendary animals as a cultural and conservation legacy. The White Lion Protection Plan™, to ensure White Lion survival, has included the reintroduction of three separate bloodlines of the highest genetic integrity into their endemic habitat.
She spearheads a healing pathway for humanity - an ecological path of leadership and living in honoring alignment with the planet and all its inhabitants in the true spirit of these majestic beings.
Pope Francis - Laudato Si - 2015
Pope Francis is emerging as one of the most courageous and visionary leaders on the planet. He is spearheading a call for a new form of planetary governance that prioritizes the stewardship of the earth and all its species.
“It is contrary to human dignity to cause animals to suffer and die needlessly. ”
In June 2015 Pope Francis published the Ecclesiastical, Laudato Si, a deeply researched document that has shaken traditional boundaries by bringing together theology and science in addressing the severe threats of global warming. The document offers an extraordinarily integrative meta-perspective on many of the global challenges facing humanity today while outlining healing pathways forward. Pope Francis is deeply critical of ruthless capitalism that causes immense suffering of the poor and of animals and that is responsible for environmental devastation. He is using his role to initiate political awareness and action across the world. He has called for a global day of prayer for the environment to be held on September 1 2015.
Pope Francis "contributes to the crumbling of the old ways as he refuses lifeless, theological ideologies disconnected from the immediacy of heart wisdom." (S. Ostroff, A Testament of Now)
Paul Watson - Sea Shepherd
For 35 years, Captain Paul Watson has been a courageous defender of the oceans, a warrior in words and action who has brought to global awareneness the horrific slaughter of dolphins and whales and his leadership has gained an international following of supporters and volunteers from across the world.
"If the oceans die, we die. We cannot live on this planet with a dead ocean."
His uncompromising stewardship of ocean life often at great risk to himself continues to inspire and catalyse action as he puts himself on the frontlines against the ruthless killers of these exquisite beings.
Paul Watson was a field correspondent for Defenders of Wildlife from 1976 to 1980 and a field representative for the Fund for Animals from 1978 to 1981. In 1977 he established Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS), an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Its mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.
Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.
Captain Paul Watson engages his followers with lively reports from the field as he and his team face the challenges and wrath of the sea pirates and institutions that destroy ocean life.
